About Diane

"As a child development specialist, former preschool teacher and parent of an adult with mental health special needs, I've learned a lot in the last 35 years - and the lessons continue every single day!  I'd like to help you learn, too - from current experts, recent research and my own education and experiences - so you will enjoy your work with young children even more!"

Diane has two unique things to offer:

Her Own Framework of Emotional Support

Because Diane is especially passionate about supporting both adults' and children's social-emotional learning and development, she has recently developed a framework that she calls "The 4 C's of Emotional Support."   She created this model, based on the work of several experts in ECE and related fields, to help educators more easily remember and implement strategies that support children's emotional needs.

A Child's Perspective of Her Behavior

Diane provides presentations with her adult daughter, Corinne, an artist, author and illustrator of children's picture books and an advocate for individuals with mental health special needs like herself.  Corinne is able to effectively articulate how it felt to be a child struggling with self-regulation, so she contributes a critical perspective that helps participants understand and empathize with children with behavioral issues.  Corinne has had such an impact on early childhood educators that she has moved some to tears!
